Our Purpose: Preaching Christ and Building His Church
We believe: I. The Bible is God’s perfect revelation of Himself, the course of history, and His purpose for mankind. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16
II. We believe there is one God, infinite in existence. He is the creator and sustainer of all things, who exists eternally in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are one yet distinct in person and function.
III. God is holy. God’s every thought, word, or action is absolutely perfect. “The Lord is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works.” Psalm 145:17
IV. God loves every human being with a perfect, unconditional love. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
V. God’s will for all mankind is that they gain eternal life and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. “…Who desires all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
VI. Every human being was born with a sin nature inherited from Adam. This sin nature separates man from God, causing him to willfully, habitually sin. The penalty of man’s sin is eternal death in Hell. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 “For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23
VII. In the greatest act of love in history, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, from Heaven to earth, to pay the penalty for the sins of all mankind. Jesus accomplished this by His death on the cross. “But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
VIII. Jesus conquered death and hell by rising from the grave. “And that He (Jesus) was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:4
IX. Jesus ascended into Heaven after His resurrection, where He lives today. “Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.” Acts 1:9
X. Jesus will return one day, judge the righteous and the wicked, and reign upon the earth for ever and ever. “And the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Revelation 11:15
XI. Salvation from sin and eternal life is freely given to all who will turn from sin (repent) and believe (trust) in Jesus as Savior and Lord. “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…” Acts 3: 19 “Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.” John 6:47
XII. The church is the family of God. God’s plan for every believer in Jesus is to actively worship and serve Him with other believers in a local church. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting on another, and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25
XIII. God has given the church two ordinances – baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19 “For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me. In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." 1 Corinthians 11: 23-25
